Description

Since inception of Pakistan, except for the initial period of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Liaquat Ali Khan the first Prime Minister, country witnessed periods of Martial Law and parliamentary democracy without witnessing any appreciable material or social change for the average Pakistani. In early sixties Pakistan was on threshold of Industrial revolution. The economy was almost on the verge of real take off. Pakistan's economic development model, was a case study in many top universities of the world. However, everything faltered due to lack of pragmatic policies, rampant corruption coupled with inept and incompetent leadership. There were instances of few good leaders on our political scene; but the present political system did not allow them to function. They became prisoners of the faulty system. World marched ahead while we marched backwards. The quality of life of an average Pakistani deteriorated. In a country where majority of people live in mud-houses or in urban slums, the leaders adopted grandiose styles of living, totally oblivious of what is the condition of the masses. Most of the leaders claimed progress, and the government controlled media painted a very rosy picture.
